I came across this question on Yahoo.sg...
Someone asked: "Is Singapore really a great country to live in?"
The answer given is said to be the best answer chosen by Voters...
I totally agree with it.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
"I had been there for many years, working.

I would say it was an extremely great working experience.
After working in this country ,wherever you go, it is just not good enuff (you will see it yourself). S'pore is a very competitive country.
The only resource is: people.
Therefore, everyone is compete with each to each other.
Everyone is striving to the top.
Market forces the demand and supply (in jobs and salaries).
In a perfect competitive environment, you will get the best of goods / services, but the worst of human... Yes, there is pros and cons.
Spiritually, i would say this is very difficult.
The real thing in life are too stressful that it won't allow god to be in your life.
Of cos, not all..I personally find it hard to seek god when i was there - too busy, no time.
Politically - the government is strict.
The person on top realized that the country is small and without any resources, it's easy to be affected by surrounding countries.
Therefore, there are 'invisible' autocratic controlling via politic.
By all means, it only trying to help the country to be more stable (which has proved to be effective).
Economic - very good.
The Asian Crisis many years ago, Malaysian , Thai and others surrouding countries' currency depreciated to an uncontrollable stage, but nothing much happened to Singapore currency (I was there).
Education - as i said before - competivite- efficient.
The education systerm is very controlling and effective, and therefore, it suppress creativity. Meaning, the students are great in Math and Science etc, but weak in Art, Drama, Music, Sport .
People - very proud of their country (achievement), very busy (work all day and night).
Very stressed (i would say NO social banefit in this country) - buy your own life/medical insurances - no money, don't get sick.
Save your own supperannuation.
Make sure you take care of your parents (or the government with 'contact' you), i've never seen anyone has jobless benefit there yet :)
So, to work there, Great. To retire there , don't !"

Don you find it true people...So interesting!

Hmmm...Nicholas...Your friend is very nice...
I wanna know your friend better...So cool!
