Health for Life. Live Your Best Life.
Based on the National Health Survey(NHS) 2004, 1 in 12(8.2%) adult Singapore residents had diabetes. This is one of the highest prevalences for diabetes in the world. Yet, of those screened during the Survey, almost 1 in 2 (49.9%) were not aware that they had diabetes. NHS 2004 also revealed that 1 in 4 adults had hypertension(High blood Pressure), with almost 4 in 10 (38.5%) not being aware of their condition. Furthermore, 1 in 5 adults had high blood cholesterol and almost 1 in 3 were either overweight or obese(extremely FAT).
IN 2006, cancer accounted for more than 1 in 4 deaths (28.5%). Coronary heart disease (Heart Attack) and stroke accounted for 1 in 5 deaths (18.5%) and almost 1 in 10 deaths (8.9%) respectively. Diabetes, hypertension, high blood cholesterol and obesity increase a person's risk for coronary heart disease and stroke significantly. On their own, diabetes and hypertension are also "silent killers" that can lead to serious complications, including kidney failure. Half of all dialysis patients in Singapore are diabetics.
Could you be suffering from one of the above conditions but are unaware? What is your risk for these conditions? If you are already suffering from these conditions, are you well controlled? How can you reduce your risk?
Of what is written above, I went for a health check-up which my school have provided. It cost only $3.00.
My result
Your Coronary Risk Category: Low Risk Group
Your risk of getting Coronary Heart Disease or a "Heart attack" within the next 10 years is less than 10 %.
Your Risk for Colorectal Cancer
You were identified to have at least 2 healthy factor(s) associated with colorectal cancer...
Regular & Adequate Exercise and increase fibre intake is needed...
Your Clinical Measurements Based on the clinical measurements performed, you are not withing the test results recommended range(s):
-A BMI of 0.0kg/m2 which is of uncertain clinical significance (target: 18.5-22.9kg/m2) This suggest that you may have a higher risk of nutritional disorders, osteoporosis and other medical conditions.
Your Current Blood Pressure Reading
126/71 mmHg.
within the normal limits of less than 130/80 mmHg.
Your Current Measurement Total Cholesterol : 3.96mmol/L LDL Cholesterol : 2.02mmol/L HDL Cholesterol : 1.68mmol/L Triglycerides: 0.56mmol/L Glucose Level: 5.4mmol/L
your Glucose Level is within the normal range of less than 6.1mmol/L therefore your are not at risk of diabetes.
LDL (bad cholesterol) is recorded as 2.02mmol/L which is below 4.10mmol/L. It would be better if it is below 2.60mmol/L. HDL(Good cholesterol) is recorded as 1.68mmol/L which is 1.00mmol/L or higher. It would be better if it is above 1.60mmol/L. Your Blood Triglyceride level is recorded as 0.56mmol/L. Given your low risk for coronary heart disease, you should keep your Blood Triglyceride level below 2.30mmol/L. It would be better if it is under 1.70mmol/L.
That's all for now...^___^ I am happy with my test result...Plus I wanna donate blood again...to save lives.
Taiyoukai Sebastian I asked that Christ Jesus watch upon me to ensure me with great health everlasting...
